How It Works
The gate utilizes precisely calibrated mesh grids and one-way directional tubes. Tiny worker bees slip through the lower channels freely to forage and bring back resources. However, the larger-bodied Queen and Drones are guided upward through the funnel system, naturally migrating into the secure, ventilated external holding bin.
Essential Usage & Seasonal Guidelines
Swarm & Drone Season: Deploy the trap during late spring and early summer when the hive shows signs of swarming (queen cells) or when drone populations skyrocket before the main honey flow.
Do Not Use Permanently: This is a tactical seasonal tool. Remove the gate during major honey flows to avoid bottlenecking heavy worker traffic, and during young queen mating flights so she can exit and return freely.
Shade Recommendation: If the hive entrance faces intense, direct afternoon sunlight, we recommend placing a small makeshift shield or board over the transparent bin to keep the collected bees cool and comfortable.
