What is HiveAlive Liquid?
HiveAlive is a concentrated honeybee feed supplement made with selected Irish seaweed extracts, lemongrass oil, and thymol. It is designed to be mixed into sugar syrup for feeding colonies.
-
How do I use HiveAlive Liquid?
Shake well, then add 2.5 ml of HiveAlive per 1 litre of sugar syrup. Mix thoroughly and feed at least 4 litres of prepared syrup per colony for best results.
-
When should I feed HiveAlive to my bees?
At minimum, use HiveAlive after the honey harvest once supers are removed. For best results, it can be added to all sugar syrup feeds throughout the feeding season.
-
Can HiveAlive be added to fondant or candy?
Yes. HiveAlive can be mixed into candy, fondant, or inverted syrup. Keep the mixture below 50°C/122°F to help maintain the product’s ingredients.
-
Why add HiveAlive to sugar syrup?
HiveAlive supplements bee feed while also helping keep syrup from fermenting. It is formulated to support colony nutrition, gut health, overwintering, and overall colony development.
- Improve Honeybee Health: Hive Alive contains only ingredients shown in trials to improve bee gut health, improve honey production, increase colony population and help colonies stay strong for overwintering. The blend of Irish seaweed extracts, thymol, and lemongrass oil enhances immune function and can revitalize weak and underperforming bees
- Boosts Colony Size: Hive Alive means more bees, more honey, and more success for professional beekeepers as well as hobbyists.
- Apply in Fall and Spring: Feed in fall for a strong colony during overwintering and in spring for colony buildup. Just add 2.5 ml per liter of syrup (2 tsp per gallon of syrup) to feed 1 hive. (100 ml size includes a convenient dosage cap.) We recommend feeding a minimum of 1 gallon of activated syrup per hive. You can also spray as directed or add to fondant or patties for a boost of nutrition
- Prevents Syrup from Fermenting: No need to toss unused or slowly used syrup. The ingredients in Hive Alive prevent fermentation to give you a longer feeding window and you can store any leftovers for future use without worrying about fermentation
- Other Uses: Spray Hive Alive syrup on frames to encourage the bees to clean up old foundation. Add before introducing a new queen to mask scent.

Directions
Bees underperforming, weak or not feeding? Spray/drench the colony. Add 1 fl. oz. of HiveAlive to 100 fl. oz. light sugar syrup (1 part water: 1 part sugar). This can be sprayed / drenched to lightly wet bees and frames, once per week for three weeks to cover full breeding cycle. For extra benefit, hives can be fed/sprayed/drenched in spring. Hives can be fed/sprayed/drenched up to 2 weeks before adding honey supers. Tips for use from beekeepers: Spray/drench the hive with activated syrup to aid new queen acceptance Feed HiveAlive activated syrup 1-2 weeks before administering thymol based miticides to limit bearding/absconding Enhance protein patties by adding HiveAlive. Or buy our ready to feed ones (link to pollen patty product page) Spray hives that are weak or not feeding to help strengthen and clean up the hive Add HiveAlive to leftover syrup to stop it from going bad Brush/spray on activated syrup to revitalise old foundation.
